Western United is excited about the recent announcement of the USHL expanding into the Western United States, including California and Nevada. This significant move, supported by the NHL and USA Hockey, aims to introduce Tier-1 junior hockey to the West Coast, providing local players with more opportunities to develop their skills closer to home. The expansion will feature new teams in Arizona, California, and Nevada, marking a pivotal moment in the evolution of junior hockey in the region. Kings President Luc Robitaille expressed enthusiasm for this initiative, highlighting the collaborative effort to grow the game of hockey. The USHL, currently comprising sixteen member clubs across several states, has not seen expansion since 2014, making this development particularly noteworthy. The announcement of the new teams' locations is expected at a press conference on June 24. USHL President Glenn Hefferan emphasized that this expansion is not just about adding teams but also about creating opportunities for young athletes in the Western United States.
